THE NEED FOR MODERNISATION OF NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE GRAVITY ZONE OF PLOVDIV AND PAZARDZHIK

Abstract

This article is devoted to the effective development of the agglomeration in the direction of Asenovgrad-Plovdiv-Pazardzhik, which requires the need to increase the intensity of regional development. This also requires the building of institutions and partnerships between all levels of government (central, district, regional, municipal), the private sector, donors and civil society. In practice, the region between the two cities has had satisfactory transport links for the last 50 years, but in the new realities it needs to double infrastructure and improve innovative development for high competitiveness. The article uses the results of a survey on the problems of the Plovdiv-Pazardzhik agglomeration area. Some trends are presented and relevant recommendations are made.
